For companies reporting under the CSRD, and those who assure them
When your sustainability figures are questioned, show the data as it stood when you reported.
Sustainability statements are now published and assured alongside the financial statements. When a figure is challenged, by the assurance provider, an investor or an NGO, the question is what the data said when you reported it.
- When it is tested
- The assurance engagement; a challenge from an investor, an NGO or a journalist; a restatement the following year.
- What you will be asked for
- The sustainability information reported under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (Directive (EU) 2022/2464), and the data and evidence behind it that the assurance provider examines.
- What goes wrong today
- Data is collected in spreadsheets and ESG tools that keep changing as suppliers send corrections; months later nobody can tell which version a published figure came from.
- What changes
- Each dataset, calculation and report version is sealed when it is finalised. A correction is a new sealed version, so a restatement shows as a restatement and not as a silent change.
Sealing shows that a record existed unchanged from a given moment; whether your records are enough is yours to judge.
Try it in two minutes
- Choose a real file of your own: an emissions dataset or a draft of the report. It is read in your browser and never uploaded.
- Seal it on Seal a file. A free sandbox key is issued on the page; only a salted fingerprint reaches the log.
- Make a copy, change one character in it, and check both against the receipt at Check. The copy fails; the original passes.
